Course: Constructing Video

This module explores the techniques for creating AI-scripted video content on environmental topics. It includes a comprehensive workshop on video production using AI, covering aspects like scriptwriting and video editing.

Good morning, I’m Lee Mallon, and welcome to Module 8 of our AI course for environmental educators. Today, we venture into the realm of video creation, where we consolidate all our previous learnings—from scriptwriting to image generation, to incorporating sound and music—into one cohesive final product: the video.

The Impact of Video

Video is a compelling medium that caters to both visual and auditory learners. With AI, individuals and organisations can create content that rivals the impact of major film and advertising productions, helping to promote environmental causes with limited resources but limitless imagination.

Five Key Elements of Video Creation

  1. Script Generation: Leveraging AI tools like ChatGPT to write scripts that are inspiring and engaging for a diverse audience.
  2. Image Creation: Transforming prompts into vivid imagery using tools like DALL-E or Midjourney.
  3. Audio Integration: Incorporating synthetic voiceovers and music created by AI to enhance the narrative.
  4. Timeline Assembly: Using video editing tools like Runway to sequence images and audio into a dynamic video.
  5. Output Realisation: The final step is bringing all these elements together to form a complete video.

Step-by-Step Demonstration

In a detailed demonstration, we’ll take a one-minute video about air quality as a case study, walking through the process of assembling the narrative, visuals, and sound into a powerful video.

Utilising AI Tools

We'll explore how to use different AI platforms, such as Eleven Labs for realistic voiceovers and Runway for generating and editing video clips, to bring our script to life visually and aurally.

Transition to Realism with Sora

Sora, OpenAI’s cutting-edge text-to-video engine, offers a glimpse into the future of AI-generated videos, providing hyper-realistic simulations based on descriptive prompts.

Closing Thoughts and What's Next

We wrap up this module by reflecting on how these AI video tools empower environmental educators to create more impactful and immersive content. Looking ahead, Module 9 will introduce us to the interactive side of content creation, enhancing our storytelling capabilities even further.

Thank you for joining Module 8. As we continue to embrace AI in our educational efforts, I’m excited to see how you’ll apply these video construction skills to your environmental causes. See you in the next module!
